Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get in touch with Captured Art Photography?

Go to the Contact Me page and drop me a line. Whether you are a new, existing, or returning customer, expect to hear from me quickly.  In addition, don’t hesitate to call me.  My mobile number is listed on the contact page as well as the home page.

What Types of Equipment does Captured Art Use?

I bring Canon 5d Cameras, multiple fixed and zoom Canon lenses, Canon 580 EX II flashes, tripods, monopods, diffusers, and plenty of memory cards and batteries. I pack the bags to be agile so I don’t use lots of lighting setups which steal from the realism of moments.  I also have backups of everything so in case something breaks I am prepared to keep shooting with no hiccups.

Are you insured?

I am insured through Professional Photographers Association.  Think of this as protection not only for me, but for you as well.

How do I start?

First, give me a call or drop me an email.  I’ll get back with you straight away. I’ll go over your plans, your expectations, and set up a meeting to get to know you better. If you don’t live close by then I can schedule a time later when you’ll be in town or even do a video conference.

What does the meeting cover?

People forget that the photographer will be the one person who spends the most time with you on your wedding day (next to your soon to be;).  I want to make sure you are completely comfortable with me and the meeting is a good time to get to know one another.  I also go over the contract, show you some prints, go over expectations and make sure we are both on the same page

How do I reserve a date?

Once you are ready I just need the signed contract, mailed or scanned and emailed to me and the deposit. The deposit is 50% of the total.

Before the wedding what needs to happen?

First, if your package comes with an engagement or bridal shoot I’ll take care of that.  I’ll stay in touch to make sure to cover any final details or changes in plans.  Things usually change up until the last minute so I will be in touch for sure.  Let me know if there is a wedding planner or trusted family member and I’ll bother them instead of you!  Lastly, the remainder of the balance is due 1 month before the wedding date.

What happens on my wedding day?

You get married!  Oh you meant with regards to your photography.  First, I always arrive early and I like to find out who everyone is; wedding coordinators, family members, and so on.  Typically I start with the getting ready shots, some group shots, ceremony, remainder of the group shots, couple shots, and then all of the shots that happen at a great party.  If you don’t have a wedding coordinator I’ve done shot lots of weddings and are more than happy to help out a bit if needed.

What happens if my event goes longer than planned?

Then you’ve got a great party on your hands and I want to stay on!  If you need to add extra hours I can add those on with no problems.  If I have an event early the next day I’ll let you know but in most cases I am happy to help out. The rates for extra hours are listed in my Rates Section under À La Carte.

How long does the editing process take?

For most weddings it can take up to 3 -4 months to complete editing.  During heavy volume times it could take up to 4-5 months. However, I don’t make you wait till the end to see images.  Along the way I’ll edit pictures and upload them for you to see.  Once done I’ll let you know so that you can start ordering pictures.

How do I order the pictures that come with the package?

I’ll email you a coupon code to use for your picture order.  The only costs to you will be the shipping charges for the images.

How do I order my photo book.

You can either pick out the images for the book or I can do it for you. I can also add text if needed.  Once I’m done I’ll send you a PDF copy of the finished book.  If you want to make any changes at that time just let me know. While I can pick the images for you, I prefer for you to pick out a few of your favorites in order to ensure your happiness.

Who can use the Online Photo Gallery?

Any family member or friend you want to have access to the wedding gallery can use it to view and order pictures of the wedding for up to 2 years.
